Wyke Beck Valley Flood Alleviation Projects

To approve the commencement of work on two schemes as part of the Wyke Beck Valley flood alleviation project, Arthur’s Rein Re-Profiling and De- Culverting Arthur’s Rein, and Halton Moor Local Nature Reserve and to give approval to the Combined Authority’s contribution to the total project costs of £0.975 million (which will be funded through the Local Growth Deal) and to the Combined Authority entering into a Funding Agreement with Leeds City Council for expenditure of up to £0.975 million from the Local Growth Fund.
To enable delivery of the Arthur’s Rein Re-Profiling and De- Culverting Arthur’s Rein, and Halton Moor Local Nature Reserve flood alleviation schemes to facilitate residential development that would otherwise not come forward for development because of the current flooding/drainage capacity issues affecting the Wyke Beck catchment area. To improve the ‘quality of place’, particularly in the Halton Moor area, by enabling improved access to green spaces and the delivery of high quality green infrastructure, with improved footpaths and cycle routes through the Wyke Beck valley.
