Bus Delivery - Real Time Information Phase 2

Decision Maker: Chief Executive

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

Approval for the scheme to progress through Decision Point 5 (Full Business Case plus Finalised Costs).

Decision:

To approve that:

·        The Bus Delivery Real Time Information Phase 2 project proceeds through decision point 5 and work commences on activity 6 (Delivery).

·        Approval to the total project value of £7.200 million is given from the Leeds Public Transport Investment programme, releasing the remaining £5.460 million funding allocation.

Reasons for the decision:

To enable the procurement and installation of 1,000 screens to present Real Time bus information at stops and shelters in the Leeds District, including installation of screens at Leeds Rail Station and up to ten city centre totem style screens.  The screens will provide people with enhanced information that will enable them to make sustainable choices for their journey to education, employment and recreation while the exposure of real time information screens on pole mounted screens along the core network will provide current car users with a powerful advertisement and perception that an organised network of services is in operation within the area and facilitate modal shift from car to bus.
