Growing Resilience Natural Flood Management Programme Phase 2 – Upper Aire (PMO ref: GD-PA4-020a)

Decision Maker: Chief Executive

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

To enable work to commence on the Upper Aire phase of the Natural Flood Management programme, leading to the delivery of hundreds of small individual natural flood management interventions spread across a large area of the Upper Aire catchment, working with multiple land owners, to slow the flow of water before it reaches the main river. This helps support other, more conventional, flood schemes to make a more cost effective overall solution – bringing with it wider environmental benefits.

Decision:

To approve that the Growing Resilience Natural Flood Management Phase 2: Upper Aire project proceeds through decision point 5 and work commences on activity 6, delivery.
To give approval to the total project value of £408,047, which includes a £388,000 contribution from the Local Growth Fund.
To approve that the Combined Authority enter into a Funding Agreement with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust for expenditure of up to £388,000 from the Local Growth Fund.
