Purpose:

Approval for the Castleford Station Gateway scheme to proceed through Decision Point 5 (Full Business Case with Finalised Costs) and work commence on Activity 6 (Delivery).

Decision:

To approve that the Castleford Rail Station Gateway project proceeds through decision point 5 and work commences on activity 6 (Delivery).

 

To give approval to the total project value of £2.836 million from the West Yorkshire plus Transport Fund.

 

To approve that the Combined Authority enters into a Section 56 Rail Funding Agreement with Arriva Rail North for expenditure of up to £2.3 million, and enters into a Basic Asset Protection Agreement (BAPA) with Network Rail for expenditure up to £50,000.

Reasons for the decision:

To enable work to commence on the delivery of a scheme which will see the enhancement of the existing Castleford rail station facility,  providing a new, high quality, modern waiting facility and pedestrian linkages with Castleford town centre and the bus station, providing an attractive and welcoming gateway to the town.
