Exempt Information - Possible Exclusion of the Press and Public

1.       To highlight Agenda Item 6, Appendix 1 and Agenda Item 7, Appendix 1 which officers have identified as containing exempt information within the meaning of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972, and where officers consider that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information, for the reasons outlined in the report.

 

2.       To consider whether or not to accept the officers’ recommendation in respect of the above information as set out in Agenda Item 6, Appendix 1 and Agenda Item 7, Appendix 1.

 

3.       If the recommendation is accepted, to formally pass the following resolution:-

 

RESOLVED – That in accordance with paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972, the public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of Agenda Item 6, Appendix 1 and Agenda Item 7, Appendix 1 on the grounds that it is likely, in view of the nature of the business to be transacted or the nature of the proceedings, that if members of the press and public were present there would be disclosure to them of exempt information and for the reasons set out in the report that in all the circumstances of the case, the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.

(i)             The Committee noted the content of the submitted report.

 

(ii)           The Committee referred to the content of the evidence summary and the emerging priorities set out in the report. Feedback was request on the socioeconomic challenges, opportunities in West Yorkshire, how competing needs could be identified and prioritised, and how these should be aligned to commitments towards sustainable and inclusive growth.

(i)             The Committee noted the propositions related to Employment and Skills that were outlined in the report.

 

(ii)           The Committee provided views on how the Combined Authority and partners could maximise the opportunities offered by Level 4 Devolution, particularly in relation to Adult Skills, Careers, and Employment Support.

(i)             The Committee endorsed the application from West Yorkshire for the Workwell programme.

 

(ii)           The Committee supported the acceptance of funding, should the application be successful, to enable timely mobilisation and delivery of the Workwell programme.

(iii)          The Committee provided views on how the Combined Authority and partners could maximise the opportunities offered by Level 4 Devolution, particularly in relation to adult skills, careers, and employment support.

 

9.

Date of the Next Meeting

The date of the next meeting will be confirmed at the Combined Authority’s Annual Meeting, subject to the approval of the proposed Calendar of Meetings 2024-25.
